Tell us all about your
nickname “Jigsaw.” Who
is he?
For the longest, longest
time, Jigsaw was a
mystery. I never told
anybody but, I’ll just
tell you for simplicity’s
sake. In college I was a
misunderstood person;
hard
to
understand
person, (I should say).
So a good friend of mine
gave me the name Jigsaw
because I was very
difficult to understand.
I have a hard time
understanding
myself
sometimes.
You’re into comic books
and graphics. How do
you factor that into your
current lifestyle?
Everything that I am is
put into my work, but
starting out, I definitely
was much into comic
books. If I didn’t do
anything hip hop, pop or
music-related, it would
absolutely be in the
comic world. I grew up
as an artist; that was my
first, real true passion.
So comic books, ya
know, I was just thinking
the other day; Delaware
is a small state but comic
books allowed me to
venture out into other
worlds, other universes,
other different ways of
thinking…even New York
City. I fell in love with
New York early and part
of that is because of
comic books and super
heroes like Spider Man
(who lived in New York),
and you could sorta
see what New York was
like. And the Punisher;
he was a vigilante from
New York. My lens was
kinda formed through
New York in that way. So,
then obviously hip hop
allowed me to peer into
other people’s cultures
and lives and things of
that nature too.
What are the chances of us
seeing a rap comic book?
For me personally, I
absolutely have deep
roots in that world and
I’m not sure if hip hop…
I don’t know, like I have
mixed feelings about it.
I mean obviously there’s
a huge relationship
between hip hop and
comics. I mean it goes
way, way deep. People
don’t even realize it goes
all the way back to like
