MEET OUR
FEATURED FAMILY
The Eaddys
We are so delighted to introduce Marley and her parents as
our featured family this month. She began preschool with us
one year ago and look at this shining example of success she
is in the toddler room now getting ready to move up to the
Big 2’s class! T his is true because of the effort on her parent’s
behalf to connect to classroom experiences and learning goals
each week. T hese discussions at home by way of the family
connection information each week and periodic conversations
with teachers about progress can truly bridge the gap between
home and school. T his is powerful to see language acquisition and
evident application of language in context such as our ASL signs
and ‘word of the week.’ When families talk about the same things teachers are saying, the children
engage even more—they understand how important it is! Letter identification and other cognitive
skills rapidly fall into place when we partner together just as the Eaddy family has done.
Please read more about their experience with us, in their own words…
“We chose Kids R Kids because we fell in love with the school. It is conveniently located in
our neighborhood and after exploring other schools, we decided it was the best fit for Marley.
Teachers are friendly and personable. The school is safe and the children are happy to be there.
Marley is learning and having so much fun with her friends. We see the academic growth
every day.”
You can see more about this family in our display in the lobby. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Eaddy!

Literacy Feature Event
Our preschool classrooms will participate in some exciting literacy
activities between their peers. Pen pals will be a fun way for our
students to learn without actually realizing that they are building their
literacy development and writing skills. Having a pen pal allows both
participants to learn more about each other and teaches them the
different ways to communicate.
Author Carolyn Allen
VISITS PRESCHOOL AND AP STUDENTS
Thursday, February 20
“The Cat that Couldn’t Meow”, written by Carolyn Allen, is a heartwarming
story about a young cat named Francois that tries desperately to overcome his
inability to meow. Fortunately, he meets a friendly French Poodle named Jean
Marcel, who immediately knows how to solve his dilemma. This is a rhyming
picture book about courage and friendship. We are excited to invite Carolyn to
our school to share the joy writing can bring to all. She will be available to
purchase signed books.
Seuss-tastic Week Celebration!

Our school is gearing up for a great Seusstastic Week from March 2-6. There
will be special family participation activities in our March newsletter to

events to highlight reading and rhyming. On March 6, there will be a special
Seussical Parade to dress up as a Seuss character or book.
