Week of the Young Child
What is the Week of the Young Child™?
The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention
on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early
childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
NAEYC first established the Week of the Young Child™ in 1971, recognizing that
the early childhood years (birth through age 8) lay the foundation for children’s
success in school and later life. The Week of the Young Child™ is a time to plan
how we—as citizens of a community, of a state, and of a nation—will better
meet the needs of all young children and their families.
We are so excited for another fun-filled week celebrating young children and
their families with hands-on, collaborative activities encouraging movement
and healthy lifestyles through music, food, and art as we celebrate the Week of
the Young Child on April 13-17, 2020.
Because of the current restrictions to be healthy and safe, we can not allow
families to visit the class to read or share, so please send a picture or item with a
script you’d like us to share about your family, heritage, hobbies, or interests.
We’d be delighted to read it and have your child stand at the front of the class
as the teacher shares in your place, families.
