Only very few players make more
than a century of ODI appearances,
and a half century of T20 matches.
Even fewer have a reputation for
being as canny a captain as Will
Porterfield has deservedly gained
over the years. He is widely regarded
as one of the best tacticians, with an
ability to think clearly under huge
pressure. Over the last few months
he has started to make a gentle
transition to coaching. While he is
still playing full time, you sense his
tactical wisdom and clear approach
to the game will benefit future players.
He has told Inside Edge about the
importance of thinking clearly under
pressure, and training players to
develop tactical intelligence.
