Welcome
REFLECTIONS
Take a step back, look at the bigger picture, and prepare for the
season ahead with the ninth volume of Coaching Insight.
T
he writing of Coaching Insight
promotes a period of reflection
and future thinking. Wings to Fly
15 encouraged us to look at the
bigger picture and the difference
that coaching really makes beyond
our sport.
2019 is a significant year for coach
development. The implementation
of the national coaching strategy,
featured in Coaches Matter 27, will
pick up pace as we start to work
towards achieving our outcomes.
This year also sees a shift in how
we distribute your resources.
icoachcricket will become the
home of Wings to Fly, Coaches
Matter, Hitting the Seam and
CA Inspire. We will notify you as
content is updated and I strongly
recommend downloading the
icoachcricket app to your mobile
or tablet.
In this volume of Coaching Insight
Jason Russell-Jones discusses
getting more out of your young
players’ parents; Ian Renshaw
focuses on constraints-led
coaching; and we aim to provide a
thought-provoking insight to where
coaching could take you in this
huge year for cricket.
We also aim to bring you the
thoughts of those at the sharp end
of the game, through interviews
with Mark Ramprakash and Jos
Buttler, while looking beyond
cricket – in this case to The
Football Association – for thinking
and discussion that can help us
grow as coaches.
Enjoy the season ahead, and look
forward to the regular release of
resources heading your way from
the ECB Coaches Association.
