3 TERTIARY How to avoid training for something that doesn’t fit your skills. By Steve Hart While following older siblings or family members into a job may be an easy option, if it’s not the right job for you, then your working life may not be as fulfilling as it could be. Caroline Sandford of the Career Clinic says she and business partner Janet Tuck help people of all ages to understand which job is best for them. “It all comes down to knowing yourself,” says Caroline. “When you understand what makes you tick you can make some good career decisions, and decide on what’s out there that fits you. “There are lots of career decisions made without the person thinking ‘is this right for me?’. I see a lot of people who have not made good decisions and they are miserable at work. “At the Career Clinic we use a lot of tools to get to the core of who people are, and help people write CVs and look for jobs – because it’s not all about applying for advertised jobs.” While the company offers one-to-one sessions lasting between one and two hours for career changers and job hunters, Caroline and Janet also visit scho
