To accommodate the offerings , it is necessary to analyze each level to know what can be placed :
First level : At this level , we begin with the image of a saint , virgin , or devotee . If we do not have one that fits the dimensions of our altar , we can put a holy cross .
Second level : This level is dedicated to the souls in purgatory . To help them get out , a picture of the souls is usually placed in purgatory , a glass of water , and a mirror so that when the souls in pain see their reflection they do not forget that they are dead .
