A few days ago there was rain , however , this has been the second driest year on record in California . For this reason , Governor Gavin Newsom issued a proclamation extending the drought emergency across the state and urging Californians to intensify their water conservation efforts .
The said proclamation allows the State Water Resources Control Board to prohibit water waste practices , including the use of potable water to wash sidewalks and driveways .
As the western US faces a potential third year of drought , Californians across the state must redouble our efforts to save water in every way possible ," said Governor Newsom .
