Business Incentives

The City of Georgetown can offer a wide range of local incentives for companies establishing or expanding their business in Georgetown . These may include tax abatements , direct grants for land or buildings , infrastructure grants , and workforce training . In addition to local incentives , our staff is experienced and can provide assistance in applying for County , State , and Federal incentive programs . Some of these are listed below . Type A Sales Tax

Georgetown Economic Development Corporation ( GEDCO ) is a 4A Sales Tax corporation approved by the citizens of Georgetown . GEDCO grants funds for economic development projects under Section 2 ( 11 )( A ) and Section 4A ( i ) of the Texas Development Corporation Act of 1979 , and as delineated in Georgetown City Council Resolution 121404-JJ .

Type B Sales Tax

In 2000 , Citizens of Georgetown approved a 4B Sales Tax Corporation , Georgetown Transportation Enhancement Corp ( GTEC ). These funds are available to finance infrastructure improvements to qualified projects .

Property Tax Abatements

The Georgetown City Council can approve personal and real property tax abatements to qualified businesses .

Utility & Transporation Infrastructure

Georgetown ’ s city-owned utility ( GUS ), provides 100 percent solar and wind energy to all of its customers . The combination of solar and wind energy allows the city to meet demand patterns and provide reliable power at predictable , low rates . Heavy power users may negotiate set rates for a specific time period .

Freeport Exemption

A taxing entity may choose to offer the Freeport exemption for various types of goods that are held in Texas for a short period of time . The City of Georgetown , Williamson County , and the Georgetown Independent School District offer the exemption creating a Triple Freeport Zone in the City of Georgetown .
