On 15 June, the EU abolished
mobile phone roaming charges.
Holidaymakers will no longer face
potentially huge bills for making calls,
sending texts and using the internet
outside the area of their mobile
phone contract.
Launching the initiative, the EU’s
leaders said: “The European Union is
about bringing people together and
making their lives easier. The end of
roaming charges is a true European
success story.”
However, people who use their
phones more abroad than at home
may still be charged extra. Check
your operator’s rules.
