EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY

Our project’s study plan was prepared based on the curriculum for pupils age 7-11 in summer months prior to 2018/2019 academic year in a way that gains from science, social studies, math, informatics, English, Turkish and visual arts courses are attached to each other. For this planning, sample themes applicable in STEM field were decided and the most voted 3 of them were chosen through with a democratic election. Project partners cooperatively indicated their strengths, and expectations from and possible contributions to the project by filling out documents shared online. Activities for all of the four class levels were found and classified as per contents of the themes. Academic studies carried out in STEM field were followed by all the partners. Our partners, who received face-to-face training on this subject, helped each other become stronger both in writing STEM plan and course applications. Specifically, the activity titled “Today’s Scientists” conducted by Prof. Dr. Ayse OGUZ UNVER and her team, who work at Mugla University, ensured that the studies in the field were communicated to students and teachers via online connections. Thus, they led innovations by reaching the latest data in the field and helped students gain career awareness. During activities conducted in all of the themes, the students were asked leading questions, and it was ensured that they could collect information by researching and discussed how the better could be done by comparing what they produced. In videos, contributions of the students to problem-solving stages are obvious. We observed during group studies that thanks to the deep learning approach, they gradually became individuals who are free from rote learning; aspire to solve problems in their lives; improve life skills; research; observe; enjoy producing cooperatively and are aware of their imagination. The authenticity of the productions and accordingly their creativity deemed proof of all the studies we carried out.

FOCUSED ON THEMES!
