As 2017 fast approaches , we will continue to focus on innovation as we explore opportunities with the NDIS . We are to engage with families as we support them during the transition and our intention is to meet with each client , family and guardian who is interested in receiving our support . As always too , please be assured that we will have you and / or your child ’ s best interest foremost in our mind as we transition together .
Before signing off , I wanted to share with you a comment a wise man said to me recently that really touched me . We were talking about how we structure staffing at our supported accommodation homes and he was really interested to understand the way we do that . In our conversation I spoke about how we build consistent teams and how we are blessed to have such a high staff retention rate as we know that having consistent familiar faces in our space is just so important for our valued clients and for the EBL
community as a whole . It was at that moment that he stopped , paused and reflected and said , “ ahh , so you build families ”. This comment stopped me in my tracks , because to be honest , I hadn ’ t really thought of it that way and was really touched by his observation . We acknowledge that family can have many different meanings to everyone , and while we certainly don ’ t strive to replace the family , we ’ re not parents , we do strive to build and enhance each person ’ s experience of family and community . I know I speak for the team when I say it ’ s an absolute honour to do this work every day . A wish for peace and happiness at Christmas and throughout the New Year .
