Day Options Update To follow is an update from the “Awesome Foursome” Day Options and Learning & Lifestyle team, Jodie, Diana, Amanda and Lynda! Thank you for all the hard work you do and the fantastic support you always provide! Yarnbrook Garden Beds Clients and staff at Learning and Lifestyle program have introduced a new gardening program into their days at Yarnbrook cottages. It’s all part of a new initiative for clients to be involved in the planting, maintaining and of course, at the end, eating the fruit and veg - reaping the rewards of their hard work. The first garden bed has already been completed containing: beans, beetroot, lettuce and carrots. We were very grateful for the support of the Bunnings store who sent two lovely volunteers to show us not only how to set up our garden, but for all the materials they donated such as gloves, seedlings, fertilizer and soil. They also spent time showing us how to turn the soil, plant, mulch, weed and water the garden bed to ensure things grew. The plan is to continue this momentum and utilise the entire backyard to be a food bowl for Yarnbrook Cottages. More from Yarnbrook Cottages Dream Ride Australia 2019 Our clients were so excited to be able to attend this very special event - they were individually afforded a ride in an array of authentic vehicles and on return they were able to experience a walk down the red carpet to receive their special medals. The day was packed full of fun with dancing, rides, face painting, B.B.Q lunch and much more. All participants also received a dream ride t-shirt. A fantastic day had by all. The Dream Ride Experience is more than just an event; it is a movement of making dreams come true. The Dream Ride Experience is a day showcasing cars and family fun, all benefiting a worthy cause. The day honours men, women and children living with intellectual disabilities in our communities, and highlights their determination and perseverance to overcome challenges, and shatter stereotypes. Hundreds of engine enthusiasts gather at Wigley Reserve to provide an exhilarating ride to the Dream Ride Participants. The 2019 Dream Ride will depart Glenelg and journey to Henley Beach via the CBD before returning to Wigley Reserve. The participants with intellectual disabilities will then be honoured with a red carpet affair and medal presentation. You have the ability to make a difference by giving an experience they can only dream of. Yarnbrook Cottages Trip to Circus Rio Everyone enjoyed a fun day out with the community at Circus Rio!
