NDIS Quality and Safeguards
Commission
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Quality and Safeguards
Commission is an independent body working with providers such as EBL to
improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services, investigate and
resolve problems, and strengthen the skills and knowledge of providers and
participants across Australia.
So, what does that mean for EBL as a NDIS registered service provider?
It means:
• EBL needs to be registered to a National provider system,
• EBL need to follow national NDIS practice Standards,
• all EBL staff need to adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct,
• a new National Worker screening will be introduced,
• new incident management requirements including reportable incidents
• there are new behaviour support requirements to reduce and eliminate
restrictive practices,
• all EBL staff need to complete a Worker Orientation Module.
What does this mean for the people we support?
It means people:
• have the right to feel safe,
• receive good quality service,
• have the right to complain and provide feedback if they are not happy with
the services they receive,
• have the right to be free from harm, abuse and neglect,
• have the right to be citizens in their community,
• have choice and control over their life.
