NDIS Update from the team at EBL S ince January, we’ve been meeting with our families to guide them through the NDIS transition process. In these meetings we’ve been answering questions, looking at how current supports will fit under an NDIS model, explaining additional supports that can be accessed through the NDIS, creating goals to go in the NDIS plan and collating general information about the individual that can go into their NDIS readiness profile. This can then be handed over in the NDIS planner meeting. We’ve now had firsthand experience of what the process will look like for adults going through the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) planner meeting process. The aim of the expos was to provide people with the information they need about the upcoming implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) adult roll out in the Barossa, Light and Lower North Region, which is occurring on July 1st. The expo saw many people walk through the doors. The day started with various public speakers to assist the community in understanding the roll out. Our mission is to provide quality lifestyle support and accommodation services to enable people with disabilities to enjoy active fulfilled lives. ” People were then invited to walk through the expo and meet providers. EBL had a stall at both the Gawler and Modbury Expo. We spoke to many people at the expos, both new and familiar faces. We loved having the opportunity to speak to people with disabilities and their supports about our knowledge “ We partner and advocate for our community to overcome challenges to fulfill aspirations and provide peace of mind. ” around the NDIS and the services that we will be providing under an NDIS model. It was comforting to know that we could answer people’s questions about the NDIS and help them feel at ease about the process. We understand that the process can seem daunting, after all the NDIS is expected to be the biggest reform since Medicare. The next NDIS expo will be at the Golden Grove Recreation and Arts Centre on Tuesday the 18th July 2017. The expo will run from the 2.30pm to 9pm. This expo aims to assist people in understanding the implementation of the NDIS in the northern and north eastern Adelaide region. The event will include two elements: the public expo, plus a presentation (run twice, in the afternoon and evening). The presentations will include audience question and answers (you will be able to submit questions before the presentations begin). It is suggested that people attending the first presentation will need to arrive at 2:45pm for a 3:15pm start. People attending the second presentation should arrive by 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start. You may register to attend a presentation and the expo, or the expo only.
