One of the best parts about being a sommelier is having the privilege to
learn about a wine lover’s tastes and general wine preferences, and then be
able to educate and recommend a new wine or wine region that may not be
in that person’s current wheelhouse. The wine world is so vast with so many
choices out there that it would be a travesty for one to not get a chance to e
xperience as many wines as possible throughout their life.
I can’t think of a better time of year than the holidays for someone to think outside
their usual (wine) box, and share with friends and family something a little unexpected –
but no less delicious! Whether giving as gifts or pouring at the holiday table, all of the
below selections are sure to delight and surprise even the most discerning wine lover.
