Beyond The Sea
By Kochawan Chayawan
O
nly about two hours drive away from Bangkok
and I can’t believe I am sitting on a small boat
with sea breeze against my face with clear water
beneath and the bright blue sky above right here
in Pattaya. Pattaya is a city in Chonburi Province just about
140km south of Bangkok. And you’ll be leaving the crowded
city of skyscrapers for a whole new life of aquamarine
sea, delicious seafood, spectacular shows, magnificent
sightseeing and attractions which are what the heart and
soul of Pattaya is all about.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Pattaya
has everything one could require for a holiday to offer, from
down-to-earth nature expedition to a dazzling mind-blowing
night life. My cup of tea which I choose to serve you for
today is of course, the sun and the sea. One of the famous
activities in Pattaya is the famous Koh Larn. Just a ring
to the concierge of whichever hotel you are staying and
Voila! An all-day-long exclusive trip on and UNDER the sea
is all yours, arranged by dozens of travel agency rivaling to
please you.
My adventure of the day begins as I stepped out of
the van the agency sent to pick me up at the hotel and step
out into the local long-tailed boat we often seen along the
coast of Thailand. Then the all-paced excited tourist would
be taken to another big boat anchored a little further away
in the sea where all refreshment are available for you to sip
while enjoying a full hour of endless sea and sky on your way
to Koh Larn. Normally, the full package includes parasailing,
sea walking, banana boat or Jet Ski and lunch at Koh Larn.
Is that a bird? Is that a plane? No! It’s you! Soaring
high above the clear blue sky with nothing but water
beneath you and the absolute freedom, that’s the joy of
parasailing. After you’re done flying with the bird it’s time to
swim with the fish! Sea walking offers you a chance to walk
under the sea and experience the 360 degree view of the
world beneath the ripple. Then, the boat would take you to
Koh Larn where dishes of seafood is ready to power you up,
before venturing back into the sea on a jet ski or exploring
the island on four-wheel-drive. Or if you prefer to chill out, a
sunbath on the beach sipping coconut water or try out the
henna body paint is at your choice. As the evening draws by,
the boat would come to take you back to the mainland with
all the good memories and stories to tell of that one day in
the sea of Pattaya
