Eat It and Like It—Savannah Food & Wine Festival Guide Fall 2014 | Page 2

WELCOME CONTENTS 2 Picks of Sips 6 Did you know? The city of Savannah makes so many lists every single year. Most Romantic City, Best Place to Ride a Bicycle, Best Ice Cream, Best Place for Halloween, the list goes on and on. That is a huge testament to the people who work very hard to promote our beautiful city and all she has to offer. She offers plenty. The one area where we have really lagged behind is finding our place as a true culinary destination. Of course, we have great food here in the Savannah/ Hilton Head Island area, but when it comes to measuring up against other cities of similar size, we are a step behind. The fact that you are reading this, a simple guide to our 2nd Annual Savannah Food & Wine Festival is proof that Savannah is on the move. The reality is we can’t be ignored anymore when it comes to sharing the talents this region has to offer. I can’t begin to tell you how exciting that is. I’ve predicted to anyone who will give me thirty seconds of their time that within two to three years, the Savannah area will have a completely different feel when it comes to its food scene. New restaurants have opened this year that can point us in the right direction and others are being built as we speak. Make no mistake, the “Culinary South” is paying more attention to Savannah now than they ever have before. That’s a win, win for all parties involved. It’s now up to us to support them. Your attendance at the Savannah Food & Wine Festival does just that. We hope you will find something in this guide that will encourage you to buy a ticket and enjoy yourself. It’s not all about fancy, unpronounceable dishes. There is something at this festival for everyone at all price ranges. Let’s get out there and Eat It and Like It. See you on TV.
