A majority of contemporary art has changed
dramatically over time—where symbols of
westernisation
and
globalisation
have
colonised the art scene. The White Rabbit
Gallery is unique, showcasing purely Chinese
artworks—often highlighting the unjust and
intriguing past of artists in a contemporary
context.
This is expressed through modern mediums
including film, electronic-based installations
and
photography,
highlighting
the
contemporary outlook on the traditional
meaning of a piece. However, contemporary
Chinese art is not limited to these mediums –
traditional methodologies using materials such
as black ink calligraphy are included,
creating a juxtaposition of traditional Chinese
methodology to produce contemporary
meanings in art. ✿
