Robot Talk

In most classrooms the morning starts out something like this...

Teacher: "Good morning."

Class: "Good morning teacher."

Teacher: "How are you?"

Class: "I am fine, thank you."

Every day, all year long, this goes on. The students sound like robots and later in life they will sound the same. It is time for a change.

I encourage my students to give me independent responses, such as:

I'm good.

I'm great.

I'm happy.

I'm ok.

I'm tired.

I'm sleepy.

I'm angry.

I'm hungry.

I'm thirsty.
