EASTPOINTE COUNTRY CLUB MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
FROM THE GROUNDS
Dear Members,
This year’ s winter season has been unbelievably beautiful! We can all agree that this may be the best season we’ ve had in years for outdoor activities. The golf courses certainly feel that way.
When the weather is as nice as it has been for such a substantial length of time, we can usually count on the need for rain. Currently, our lakes are experiencing some recession. Although I have experienced much lower water levels, we know that the few wells we have on property cannot adequately replenish what Mother Nature does naturally. Our community, along with others in South Florida, fall under the South Florida Water Management District. By permit, the district regulates the amount of water we are annually permitted to pump. I am responsible for reporting these numbers quarterly to SFWMD for Eastpointe Country Club. Since our irrigation water volume is regulated, we hope for some much needed rain in the coming months before we are compelled to implement drought control restrictions.
At this time our play conditions are consistent on both golf courses. We continue to employ an aggressive fertilizer and weed treatment program on the West Course, with conditions continuing to improve each day. This summer we will maintain these programs and expect superior conditions for next season.
We have implemented one hole per week“ cart paths only” on each course. This will give our fairways a break from cart traffic stress, aid in better growth of the fairways, and hopefully reduce comments of thin fairways.
Remember, these are your golf courses! Please adhere to the signage; repair your ball marks, rake your bunkers and fill divots with sand.
Thank you!
