In November, following anti bullying week,
we had a youth worker from the Charity
“Bullies out” come and visit us here at
Eastern Chatter.
Who are Bullies Out?
Bullies Out are one of the UK’s most
dedicated and ambitious anti-bullying
charities. Our award winning work is
delivered across the UK and Ireland and
each year, through our work with schools,
colleges, youth and community settings, we
provide education, training and support to
thousands of young people.
What are the different types of
bullying?
• Physical bullying involves hitting,
shoving, pushing, tripping and other
kinds of force
• Verbal bullying involves hurtful
comments, name-calling and teasing
• Social bullying involves using
relationships to hurt someone
• Cyberbullying happens over phones or
the internet/social media
What should we do if we
or a friend is being bullied?
DO NOT…
Think it’s your fault. Nobody deserves to
be bullied!
Fight back or bully a person back.
Keep it to yourself and just hope the
bullying will go away
Skip school or avoid school or afterschool
activities because you’re afraid of the
bully.
Don’t be afraid to tell.
Hurt yourself.
You can contact Bullies Out by emailing
[email protected]. If you
would rather speak to someone over the
phone you can contact Childline or if
texting is more your thing message MEIC
on 84001.
Did you know?
According to disability, harassment, civil
and criminal laws bullying can easily
become a crime. Almost half of young
people feel they have been bullied at some
point. Schools have anti bullying policy
and have someone you can go to if you
are experiencing bullying.
