The Holidays
By Jenny Hurnell
“The holidays!”
Screams rise a we run out of school, a mass mob of students running out of the
classrooms, out of the school, out of the gates… freedom! No more lessons and
homework for two weeks. Two whole weeks! The sun is high and bright in the sky,
no clouds in sight, just clear bright blue sky that stretches for miles until it fades on
the horizon. Birds fly left right and center, startled by the commotion that was
occurring on the ground way below their feet.
Teachers appear outside the gates nearly just as enthusiastic for the two week
holiday away from the screaming raucous children they have to teach. They are
excited, not as much as we are though, nearly but not quite.
This morning we continued our tradition, we each brought in an easter egg to share.
We fish them out our bags and begin to smash them into little pieces so we can each
have a piece of each others. Everything always tastes better when you share it for
some reason.
It's finally here, easter! A time to have fun with friends and family, to see all the little
animals that have just been born. The little lambs and calves. The little fluffy
ducklings and furry little rabbits.
I love Easter!
