THE SHEER POWER OF SPORT Our primary aim is to build character on sports fields, in classrooms and enhanced by blackboard analysis off the field of play. We initially chose cricket which is ideal for character building - players work in teams but with individual responsibilities. Cricket is a game for boys and girls with wide ranging roles and children can participate either as players, game scorers and supporters. Measured by UK experts visiting Kenya, examination results have improved, teachers are inspired and the impact on children and teachers is life changing. Character – a speech by the President of Kenya “A human being is not made by what grade they get, it’s the Character of that person that makes them somebody to be recognised. Their achievements are gained through hard work, determination and doing the very best they can.” Uhuru Muigai Wa Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya The full speech by President Uhuru Kenyatta can be found at www.eaccj.org/President-of-kenya “Sport can create hope where once there was only despair.” Nelson Mandela
