SPACE COAST
NEW ZEALANDTM
Surrounded by the Pacific
Ocean and providing
the perfect angle to
launch rockets into
the lower earth orbit,
Rocket Lab has chosen
the Māhia Peninsula as
the ideal spot to launch
commercial rockets from.
With plans to launch
up to one rocket per
month there are plenty
of opportunities to visit
this beautiful area and
witness a rocket launch.
Fly into Wairoa and
make your way along the
fascinating Pacific Coast
Highway to one of our
rocket launch viewing
site. Bring a picnic and
enjoy it at the viewing
site while you are waiting
for the rocket to be
launched.
Spend a long weekend
in the Wairoa District
and connect the viewing
of a rocket launch
with outdoor activities
like fishing, surfing or
tramping or just realx
at one of the beautiful
beaches. Alternatively
enjoy a soak at the
Mōrere Hotsprings.
in 2017. With up to one
launch per month there
will be an opportunity
for every aerospace and
space fan to watch a
rocket launch. Viewing
sites will be located along
the districts beaches
to guarantee the best
possible view. Enjoy a
picnic at the viewing site
or at the beach while you
are waiting for the rocket
launch to take place.
Due to unforeseen
circumstances like
non-favorable weather
conditions the date for
a rocket launch can’t
always be predicted
with certainty. For every
rocket launch there is a
two week window with
several launch dates.
For the best chances to
see a rocket launch, visit
our beautiful district for
a few days and enjoy a
little holiday with your
friends or family. If the
rocket launches should
still be cancelled for any
reason, just continue
with ‘Plan B’ and enjoy
the natural beauty of the
Wairoa District.
