2018-2019 ECFE Class Descriptions
Parent-Child Preschool
( For children 30 months – 5 years on or before Sept. 1, 2018, before kindergarten) This class meets two days per week. Monday is a parent-child day and Wednesday is a child only day. You and your children play and learn together during the parent-child day, and you will separate for a discussion time. Children attend without parents on Wednesday and practice skills such as sharing, taking turns, problem solving, asking questions, and learning through play. Children must be able to use the bathroom independently to attend this class.

Has your child been screened yet?
Nature Family Fun
( For children birth – 5 years, before kindergarten) Make nature discoveries together and meet new friends! This class is offered at the Maplewood Nature Center in collaboration with Early Childhood Family Education( ECFE) staff. Parents stay with their children during the entire class. Fee is $ 5 per child per class. Pre-registration is required.

Pop-In and Play
( For children birth – 5 years, before kindergarten) Parents and children have an opportunity to learn and play in the ECFE classroom and gym with new activities each week. Parents, grandparents, guardians, or caretakers and their children are welcome. Fee is $ 3 per child, paid at the door each visit. Watch Facebook( www. facebook. com / isd622ecfp) for special FREE nights to celebrate grandparents, single parents, military, LGBTQ and blended families.

Early Childhood Screening
ALL Minnesota children, ages 3 – 5 years, must complete a FREE early childhood and development screening. This FREE service provides an early look at your child’ s development and is recommended for children at three years of age.
What happens during Screening?
We check:
• Speech, language and cognitive skills
• Social / emotional / behavioral development
• Vision and hearing
• Immunization record and other health factors
What happens after Screening?
• You will learn about your child’ s results
• You can find out about community resources and Early Childhood Programs
