Learning !
Parent communication is often
broken down into areas of study.
Parent communication is often “tagged” to indicate what areas of study were being developed
in a specific photo. Examples of tags include:
Language Literacy
While developing skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, students learn to construct
meaning, make connections to their own lives and gradually begin to critically analyze and
interpret what they hear, observe and read.
These areas are developmentally
appropriate and approached
through play. Children rarely
realize they are learning!
Math
Children learn to approach mathematical thinking and problem solving. Study focuses on
patterns and relationships. The content of math is stressed through the larger context of
knowing and doing.
Science
Scientific investigation including inquiry, physical and earth sciences and the process of
investigation are stressed. Scientific thinking is focused on how children actively investigate
through observing, recording, describing, questioning, forming explanations and drawing
conclusions.
