INFORMATION PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING COURSES ESOL, ENGLISH AND MATHS FAMILY LEARNING Instalments Students who enrol on a year-long programme can apply to pay by instalments. Please ask when enrolling. First instalment will be taken at the time of enrolment. The full fee needs to be paid one month before the course end date. Additional costs Course fees do not always include all course materials. For further details please consult the course description online or request a copy from the Ealing Council’s adult learning team. Detailed information for the whole course will be given by the tutor during the first lesson. Advanced Learner Loans 19+ The Advanced Learner Loans have been introduced by the government to support learners in further education in a similar way to university loans for higher education learners. Your household income is not taken into account, there is no credit check and you will not pay anything back until you’ve completed your course and you are earning over £25,000 a year. You can take out a loan for the entire cost of your course or you can pay some of it yourself and take out a loan for the rest of the fee, subject to a minimum loan of £300. Ealing Adult Learning does not receive any other funding for these learners so the full cost of the course must be covered through the loan or directly by you. The loans are administered by Student Finance England on behalf of the UK Government. You can find out more information from the government website at https://www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan. Are you eligible? • Are you aged 19 or over at the start of your course? • Are you studying an eligible course at Level 3 or above? • Do you have UK residency? If you can answer yes to all these questions, then you are likely to qualify for a government loan to help pay for your course fees. How do I know whether my course qualifies for an Advanced Learner Loan? Courses that qualify for loan funding are identified in the course guide or online together with the fee payable. If you are unsure whether the course is right for you, then you can find support and advice on the National Careers Service website at nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk or call their helpline on 0800 100 900.
