No. 15 – LB Kevin Hardy
Former Jaguars LB Kevin Hardy is No.
15 on the Jaguars All-25 presented by
Sharpie, a collection of the top 25 non-
active players in franchise history, as
voted on by members of the local media.
Hardy 6-4, 259, was the Jaguars’ fi rst-
round draft pick in 1996, the No. 2 pick
overall and the fi rst defensive player taken
that year. His Jaguars debut on Sept. 1,
1996 was one for the history books as
Hardy recorded a sack and an interception
in the Jaguars victory over the defending
AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers. He
was named to the 1996 All-Rookie team
by the Pro Football Writers of America.
Hardy’s best season came in 1999 when he
led all AFC linebackers with 10.5 sacks and
was named All-Pro and went to the Pro
Bowl for the fi rst time. In six seasons with
the Jaguars, Hardy ranks No. 6 in career
sacks with 28.5. He arrived in Jacksonville
following a standout college career at the
University of Illinois where he won the
Butkus Award in 1995 as a senior.
“The things he could do that you knew
other linebackers couldn’t do – that’s what
was exciting about Kevin,” said Frank
Frangie, Jaguars play-by-play announcer
for 1010XL Radio and a member of the All-
25 voting panel. “This RPO that everyone
is playing now, he could have defended
that. He would have never been off the
fi eld.”
