“He’s making us better; he’s making us kind of be on our—excuse my language—he’s making us be on our (expletive) a little bit sooner than we had previously had to, and that’s good,” cornerback Jalen Ramsey said. “We’re out there. We’re getting in the mindset. We’re getting locked in.” Cornerback A.J. Bouye noticed a major difference back in May. “I was even talking to my coaches, frustrated because you have a really good quarterback and there were certain plays that you were making in the past years … you are there and even when you make the right breaks and everything, but the ball is where only the receiver can catch it,” Bouye said. “You can see that he is a leader out there, the way he carries his offense. The tempo of the offense is different, they’re more upbeat, they’re attacking us. They are going to give us looks. For example, there was a deep ball that I broke up, but you could tell the way he was pump [faking] the post safety to get him off the fi eld and then to come back and read his reads … We weren’t seeing that a lot. “That’s only going to make us better going into the season.” For the fi rst time in a long time Foles enters a training camp as the starting quarterback. When asked about it last week, Foles quickly turned the conversation back to the team. “I think whenever you get to run an offense that you really enjoy, and that you get to have a lot of say in, what quarterback wouldn’t love that?” Foles said last week after a practice against the Baltimore Ravens. “It’s really just about the people that you get to do it with, and this team has really been bonding every single day. “I feel like [I’m] trying to get a little bit better every day, trying to get closer with the guys and develop those relationships to where when we come on the fi eld, and we play against someone, when we need to make checks or a route adjustment or different line calls, everything is smooth. “I feel good where we’re at. We just have to keep progressing. We’re heading the right direction; we still have a ways to go. That’s the plan, just a little bit better every single day.” Tonight’s game Tonight the Jaguars host the Philadelphia Eagles in Preseason Week 2. At the start of 2019 Training Camp, Foles was asked what it felt like to deliver the city of Philadelphia their fi rst Super Bowl title two seasons ago. As we are learning from each Foles media availability, the answer was vintage Foles – giving a nod to his past, but also looking forward to the future. “I will always love Philadelphia, I will always admire the Eagles organization, and they know that,” Foles said. “But what’s so exciting is there’s not many players that are blessed to play with an organization like that, that have never won one, and then they’re blessed to go to another organization that has always strived for that. I’m blessed to be here and be a part of the Jaguars organization. I get to see a lot of different steps I took in Philly, continuing to build this camaraderie to build this team for that ultimate goal that we achieved there. And obviously this is a different situation, different people, different city, everything, but I still see the passion. “I know everyone was out here today (fi rst day of training camp) supporting us, and it’s special to be a part of, and that’s why I’m so excited every single day to come out here and just compete and have fun. Because I know how much this city wants it.”
