Hello Eaglebrooke Members ,
It seems the summer months are reluctant to let go , with heavy rains continuing throughout September . While this delayed progress on a few projects , we were ultimately able to complete them . However , maintaining consistency across the golf course was a bit of a challenge during this time . I ’ m hopeful that as we move forward , we can settle into a more routine maintenance and detail schedule to ensure a high-quality course as we enter our busiest time of the year .
The sod work we completed around several bunkers is holding up well so far . These areas were treated as test spots in preparation for further work next year when we close for the greens renovation . We incorporated organic compost into the soil and tilled it in to help with water retention , ensuring healthier turf . Over the years , sand buildup in these areas made it difficult to grow quality turf without overwatering the fairways . This test will help guide us — if we see good results , we ’ ll know we ’ re on the right track . If not , we may need to dig deeper and completely replace the underlying soil . This gives us a solid baseline for future projects on tees and bunkers .
October is when our maintenance team can really focus on fine-tuning the details across the course . We ’ ll be tackling tasks like edging cart paths , landscaping beds , bunker edging , and adding sand where needed . These efforts are often undone by heavy summer rains , so fall is the perfect time to get things in shape . These small touches are what set apart a good golf course from a great one , and I ’ m committed to making Eaglebrooke a great course !
