LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
With 2023 behind us , we are ready for the new year ! Last year was very frustrating from a weather standpoint . From periods of downpours and multiple inches of rain to months of drought and very little rainfall , we had to adapt to unusual circumstances involving the “ El Nino ” weather pattern . I am happy with how the maintenance staff responded and came to work every day with improvement in mind .
We have expanded the maintenance budget into this next year allowing us to add fertilizer and more resources for weed control on the golf course . We have focused on a tee to green approach for the past few years and it has allowed us to clean up most of the main playing surfaces . We are now expanding to the rough and outer areas to improve the quality of turf property wide . This is a big property with 126 irrigated acres of golf course to manage . The current rise in costs and labor has been a challenge , but we are following a plan to be able to maintain areas that we clean up and prevent them from going back to a state of disarray .
I am happy how the new range tees have shaped up toward the end of last year . I was a little nervous in the beginning because it seemed to take a little longer to get the turf coverage we were looking for . We stayed consistent with our fertilizer applications and water management , and it paid off in the end . We will continue to work on the quality of all the practice tees this next spring and summer to keep them healing properly throughout the growing season . I hope everyone will enjoy them for years to come .
I am excited to start a new year with the team we have . I was lucky to hire on some good people who show up every day and give a great effort in their daily tasks on the golf course . We will have our troubles and growing pains , but they are not the type to give up . I can ’ t THANK them enough for their effort and loyalty to me and Eaglebrooke . Let ’ s have a great year and keep the plan moving !
