ANOTHER NEW YEAR FOR GOLF
Happy New Year Everyone ! I hope everyone had a great Holiday season , and are using all the new fancy golf toys that Santa left under the tree . This is going to be the year right ? This is the year where we lower that handicap , or play our personal best round , or start to make the changes to take our games from good to great ! It all sounds good right ?
This happens every New Year and not just in golf as we all know , with our resolutions to lose weight , make more money , and insert any goal that you may want to accomplish in the coming year . But where does this motovation go ? We all start gung ho at the beginning of the year , and slowly lose the motovation as the weeks go on . Where does the firey goal accomplishing motovation go ?
I ’ m a believer that the motovation doesn ’ t go anywhere , we just a get so wrapped up in other things , that the distractions just lead us away from accomplishing our goals . So in order to keep the goal achievable , I like to break the goal down and how to achieve by making an accountability action plan .
For example , last year I set a personal goal of trying to lower my personal scoring average by 2 shots by April 1st . So I had the goal in mind , and also a date to make the goal time oriented . Furthermore , I would take the large goal , and break it down even further by setting specific practice times each week , and making those practice times very specific with 10-15 minute practices goals during the session .
So again , we are making goals that are specific , measurable , achievable , relavant , and time based . This is a key componant in making sure we can actually achieve the goal , and by doing so we are keep ourself accountable by the objectives we create by breaking down our big goal into many smaller goals , that lead back to the main goal .
I hope you all have a great start to the new year and hope that you squash those goals , and keep yourself accountable ! Peace and Blessings to you all !
