LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Goodbye to 2022 and welcome to 2023 ! This past year just seemed to fly by with a strong finish by the golf maintenance staff . We were able to make great strides on the golf course knocking out a lot of the detail work throughout the property . The cart path edging turned out better than expected and just added to the overall impression of the golf course . We were able to also combat a lot of the turf weed issues in the main areas from tee to green . The golf course improves monthly , and I am excited what 2023 holds in store for us .
This month and into February , we will be getting a lot of much needed tree work done . We will have an outside company with the proper equipment begin trimming oak trees on holes # 1 , # 9 , # 10 , # 11 , # 17 , and # 18 . We feel that this will make a big difference in appearance as well as health for the surrounding turfgrass areas . The oak trees throughout the property have not been properly trimmed in several years and this is our chance to start on some of the golf holes that need it the most . We are using these primary holes as a starting point for a regular yearly schedule of touch up and tree maintenance moving through the property by sections . This will be a 3 – 5-year cycle to include all of the trees on the golf course .
This time of year is very idle as far as growth from the bermuda grass . We can start to see wear patterns on the fairway entrances and exits throughout the golf course . The cooler temperatures are just not favorable for these areas to heal quickly and recover from the constant cart traffic . It is EVERYONE ’ S responsibility to follow the cart rules while playing golf . Some common unspoken rules have been forgotten in the last few years that really affect the playability and appearance of the golf course . No carts on Tee and Green slopes , NO carts on Par 3 holes , and NO carts within 25 feet of any green !!! This includes our handicap flagged carts . It is all our responsibility to follow these rules and make our club as nice as it can be . Take pride in and respect the course because it is yours !
