Hey folks,
I hope you’ ve had a decent flying month. I’ ve been able to take the 140 out several times lately, and the cold air makes for great climb performance. I even managed a couple of landings of late that were tolerably non-horrible! Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate on December 3 rd, the day of the big Mountain Flying seminar at the War Eagles Museum at Santa Teresa. Plenty of chapter members made the drive down in spite of the rain and gloom, and it was a terrific learning opportunity. Many thanks to NMPA for presenting, and to War Eagles and Chapter 1570 for hosting.
Later that night, Carol and I were also able to attend the Pearl Harbor anniversary festivities at War Eagles. I spent a lot of time poring over those, and I guess you probably wouldn’ t have found too many other kids in junior high in the 1970’ s with my level of familiarity with antique bomber technology. But, I had to get a lot older before I really came to understand how difficult and tragic the war had been for the men who went to war in those airplanes. I know some of our readers lived
