Hey folks ,
I hope you ’ ve had a decent flying month . I ’ ve been able to take the 140 out several times lately , and the cold air makes for great climb performance . I even managed a couple of landings of late that were tolerably non-horrible ! Unfortunately , the weather did not cooperate on December 3 rd , the day of the big Mountain Flying seminar at the War Eagles Museum at Santa Teresa . Plenty of chapter members made the drive down in spite of the rain and gloom , and it was a terrific learning opportunity . Many thanks to NMPA for presenting , and to War Eagles and Chapter 1570 for hosting .
Later that night , Carol and I were also able to attend the Pearl Harbor anniversary festivities at War Eagles . There are a couple of photos from that event here that I stole from the First Aero Squadron Foundation web page ( which you can read for yourself at http :// firstaerosquadron . com / 2016 / 12 / 06 / fasf-memberscelebrate-wwii-generation-and-pearl-harbor / )

I spent a lot of time poring over those , and I guess you probably wouldn ’ t have found too many other kids in junior high in the 1970 ’ s with my level of familiarity with antique bomber technology . But , I had to get a lot older before I really came to understand how difficult and tragic the war had been for the men who went to war in those airplanes . I know some of our readers lived
