Here is a sad and revealing fact . Most firearm owners have not taken any training . Carrying a firearm is a serious endeavor . It is easier and more fun to go buy a shiny new gun and forget it , than to practice with the one you have .
The fact is , learning isn ' t easy . Learning takes character . Learning takes discipline . It all starts with admitting we don ' t know everything . Thus we must practice regularly .
Do you know how many new gun owners take their CCW class and get their permits , then don ' t even carry ? Too many to count !
Many firearms owners would rather hope that their gun will keep them safe ... than actually train so they can be confident , prepared and safe ... which is very scary .
Also scary , many of these firearms owners cannot tell you the four basic rules of handling a firearm .
So why do so many firearm owners lose motivation to take the time to train regularly ? There are many good reasons , in their minds .
Here are the most common reasons well-meaning people will tell you , about why they don ' t train regularly :
Reason # 1 ) They forget , the gun lives in the drawer or safe .
Reason # 2 ) They are too busy with life to remember .
Reason # 3 ) They forget the gun will protect them . Reason # 4 ) They don ' t like going to the range . Reason # 5 ) They are not disciplined .
As you can see , these " reasons " are not really valid reasons at all . Most are excuses why they don ' t train regularly .
The biggest reason is the fact that they don ' t have the mindset of a firearms owner . They are not disciplined enough to do what they must do to protect their lives and the lives of their families .
So what are the solutions to these " fake " reasons , that will get them motivated to hit the range once or twice a week , every week ? of mind . Solution # 2 ) Mindset ! Be a responsible gun owner . Solution # 3 ) Preparedness ! Be ready to save a life .
Solution # 4 ) " Learning Loss !" Remember , use it or lose it .
Solution # 5 ) Be Disciplined ! The life you save may be yours .
Now it ' s time for you to do some serious thinking .
Are you willing to carry every day , so your firearm is top of mind , no matter what you are doing or where you are going ?
Are you willing to adopt the mindset of a responsible gun owner and promise yourself you will train weekly , no matter what ?
