E3 Camping Issue Q4 2020 | Page 5

This is your home to gather education and feel empowered , while enjoying a bit of entertainment along the way . We are thrilled you are here and can ’ t wait to pour ourselves into this adventure with you ! There is a lot to dive into in this issue , but one of our favorite articles is

“ The History of RVing .”
Imagine the first person who thought it was a good idea to pull an entire house ( or RV ) down the road , in an effort to bring their modern comforts into the wild . What a grand experiment ! As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said ,
“ All life is an experiment . The more experiments you make , the better .”
Thank goodness someone started the trend , so we all have an example to follow . We think curiosity is at the core of wanting to do new things , and starting small helps us take the first step . That said , remember that progress — not perfection — is the goal of any good journey .
Fear of failure keeps some people inside their comfort zone , without ever exploring or experimenting at all . Getting out there takes courage ! When you are nervous about taking a new step in your RV journey , refocus that energy on how exciting it is to challenge yourself and explore new territory . Rest assured , that twinge of anxiety you will sometimes feel is normal . It ’ s okay to be excited and a little nervous , too , as you take on the task of learning a new skill .
Learning something new takes time . If you are new to RVing or camping , there are going to be some speed bumps along the way . ( Psst … we ’ ve been at this for years and we ’ re still overcoming obstacles !)
Use them as opportunities to improve and learn for next time , and don ’ t let them stop or discourage you . We ’ ve always found that a solutionbased mindset keeps the focus on the solution to a problem , rather than on blame . Blame can really take a toll on the relationships that are most important , and we ’ re guessing that enriching those relationships is probably a big part of why you want to go camping in the first place !
No matter how bleak a problem seems in the moment , those speed bumps will turn into your best campfire stories . You will be able to share them with future newbies and with your friends back home . Believe it or not , some of them will even become fond memories .
When you finish a trip , we encourage you to reflect on what you liked , and how to make it even better the next time . Write those thoughts down . Keep them with your camping gear , or in your RV . Consider them a gift you give to your future self .
Our goal in this magazine is to help you learn , stay inspired , and of course , to get out there . We can ’ t wait to see you on the road ! Let ’ s get out there !
