“ We travel not to escape life , but for life not to escape us .”
— ANONYMOUS

Has it been a while since you ’ ve been able to create a new adventure ? You know where you ’ ve been but have no idea where you want to go . More importantly , do you know why you want to go ?

Most of us want to travel to take a break from the pressures and routine of daily life — to get away from it all . It gives us an opportunity to see new places and create new experiences , satisfying a hardwired human desire for novelty . But many of us put it off , thinking we ’ ll travel “ when we have time ” or “ when we retire .” The problem with that mindset is life can turn on a dime and , to paraphrase an old Scottish proverb , the best laid plans for the future never happen .
Life circumstances — health , relationships , family life , and work commitments — can change and alter plans at any moment . We often think of travel as an indulgence and that money spent on travel could be put to better use , like paying off a home loan or replacing that hot water heater .
What we fail to understand is how travel contributes to our overall health and well-being . Travel can enhance our personal growth , our mindset , our relationships , and our appreciation of the world we inhabit . Travel is rewarding not only because of the experiences it provides , but also in how those experiences can be life changing .
