The City of Laguna Niguel
has been awarded the
Certificate of Achievement for
Excellence in Financial
Reporting by the Government
Finance Officers Association of
the United States and Canada
(GFOA) for its FY 2013/14
comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR.)
“This is the sixteenth straight year the City
has earned this prestigious award thanks in no
small part to the hard work and dedication of
Finance Director Steve Erlandson and his staff,”
said Mayor Laurie Davies. “The award is a
significant accomplishment for City officials and
staff, and demonstrates the City’s commitment to
making accurate and complete financial information
available to the public" said Davies.
The Certificate of Achievement for
Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest
form of recognition in the area of governmental
accounting and financial reporting. An Award of
Financial Reporting Achievement was presented to
Director Erlandson as the primary person
responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel
to meet the high standards of the program including
demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full
disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story
and motivate potential users and user groups to
read the CAFR.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional
association serving approximately 17,500
government finance professionals with offices in

County Sheriff’s Department DUI Taskforce will
be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License
Checkpoint in Laguna Niguel.
