THE GAIETY THEATRE

The Gaiety Theatre was Wairoa ’ s first cinema . It was originally built in 1928 , collapsed in the 1931 earthquake , but was quickly rebuilt . Over the years it closed and opened its doors , but in 2015 it was reopened . Since then it is open five days a week ( Wednesday to Sunday ) and is showing a selection of recent movies . It also hosts events like the popular Long River concerts .
