Diocletian,
the last great
Augustus of the Western Roman
Empire
Roman Emperor, reformer of all political systems,
military, administrative, fiscal and economic; this
Augustus in this immoderate taste for luxury that
after twenty years of reign, will leave indelible
traces of its passage
not elected to their family relationship but according
to their values, which eliminated all estate matters.
Become Caesar was an honor and a springboard to
become Augustus. But the establishment of the
tetrarchy did not solve all the problems, however,
and Rome was beginning to suffer. Diocletian and
the tetrarchy will therefore try to restore its former
greatness in Rome and thus restore his authority.
Usurpers and protesters will be eliminated one by
one. Housekeeping and fact Diocletian can tackle
basic tasks of power. It will implement various
reforms that will completely transform the Roman
Empire:
- He'll break up the provinces in which more
manageable smaller units;
- Needless to build walls around major cities
to protect against invasion and install legions

network by creating new routes and thus

between provinces;
From a modest family, some historians agree that his
parents and grandparents were freed. Diocletian,
whose real name was Gaius Aurelius Valerius
Diocletian; was born around 245 AD in the city of
Salona (small metropolis of Dalmatia, where
administrative and Episcopal service of the Roman
provinces was centralized) located a few kilometers
from the current split. He leave the home very early
to integrate the Roman army, he very quickly

Emperors Aurelian and Probus. Gradually, he

Numerian, in 284, Diocletian was elected Augustus

Augusti (Diocletian and Maximilian) and two new
