" European & Int ' l Standarisation Activities in the field of e-Health "
Standards play an important role in ensuring quality , safety , and efficiency . The principles of consensus , inclusivity , accessibility , and transparency , under which standardisation operates on International , European and National Level , enable the development of standards that include best practices and accumulate high expertise from around the world . This is why standards , even though they are voluntary , are a valuable tool to all kinds of economic sectors , industry , and the society in general .
The Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation ( CYS ), as the National Standards Body in Cyprus , participates actively in the work of European and International Standardisation Organisations , contributes to the development of standards and supports national interests . Additionally , CYS maintains national standardisation system structures , cooperates with stakeholders of the public and private sector , and promotes the use of standards throughout the country .
There are several active technical committees developing standards related to the , relatively new but challenging , sector of e-Health such as , CEN TC 251 and ISO TC 215 on Health Informatics , ISO TC 304 on Health Care Organisation Management , CEN / CLC JTC 13 and ISO JTC 1 on Cybersecurity and Data Protection , ETSI TC e-Health , ETSI TC Cyber etc . Many of the standards developed by these committees are aligned and provide support to the relevant EU strategies and aim to ensure safety , security , and interoperability .
