The National eHealth Authority ( NeHA ) in Cyprus is an autonomous independent entity , a legal entity under public law , and is the institutional body that has a regulatory and supervisory role for all eHealth issues at national , European and cross-border level . The NeHA ensures the establishment of the framework for the use of electronic health for the prevention of diseases , the promotion of health and the effective and safe provision of health services to citizens , the implementation of the institution of the integrated Electronic Health Record , the regulation , storage and use of biomedical information , the regulation of cross-border health care , and telemedicine are institutional . The National Contact Point for eHealth is responsible for the exchange of health data in the European Health Data Space ( EHDS ).
The period of recent years has been full of challenges both for our country and for the entire humanity . The demands for full recovery and return to normalcy remain high , and there is still a significant road to eventual recovery . Furthermore , the acceleration of digitization , combined with citizens ' greater familiarity with technology , have increased their expectations for the provision of digital health services , personalized and tailored to their personal needs . The pandemic due to Covid-19 led us to the development of important digital cross-border tools , with the greatest success being the European Digital Certificate ( EU-DCC ) which facilitated free movement and the opening of the economy , under the coordination at the European level of the National eHealth Authority and the cooperation of the Ministry of Health and the Deputy Ministry of Research , Innovation and Digital Policy with a national coordinating role .
THE NATIONAL eHEALTH AUTHORITY
The National Electronic Health Authority acts within the electronic health ecosystem of Cyprus where it is a Legal Entity of Public Law which was established on October 23 , 2019 based on the eHealth Law N . 59 ( I )/ 2019 which was passed on April 19 , 2019 .
