Dr . Christos Ν . Schizas

He has 40 years of experience in information systems development with more emphasis on eHealth , computational and artificial intelligence , medical informatics , biosignal analysis , and brain activity modelling with emphasis on attention .
He was born in Cyprus and studied at Queen Mary College , University of London , UK , B . Sc . ( Eng ). Graduate studies at the University of Indianapolis , USA , MBA , and at Queen Mary College , University of London , UK , PhD in 1981 . He served as Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of London , and Professor of Computer Information Systems at the University of Indianapolis . Since 1991 and until 2020 , he has been with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus and he served as Vice Rector of the University during 2002-2006 .
He published more than 150 research papers in International Scientific Journals , International Conferences , and Edited Book volumes . He is the Section Editor ( eHealth ) of the journal Technology and Health Care , served as area editor of the journal IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine , and member of the editorial board of the journal of Intelligent Systems .
He has taken part in European Commission initiatives for promoting the Information Society , especially the Euro Mediterranean partnership and the eHealth initiatives . Participated in the eHealth Week , Ministerial meeting – Dublin 2013 as National Representative and invited speaker at the eHealth Forum , Ministerial meeting – Athens 2014 . He lectures the course on eHealth at a master ’ s level , and at the Schools of Medicine – University of Cyprus .
In August 2015 , he was appointed as advisor to the Cyprus Minister of Health on eHealth matters , especially for proposing the road map for implementing the National Health System and monitoring its steps . In April 2016 , he was appointed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus as Presidential Counsellor for eHealth and matters related to the national health system reform . He proposed the National eHealth Law and undertook this mandate from the president to draft it and pass it through the Parliament .
In October 2019 he has been appointed by the Council of Ministers as the first Executive Chairman and President of the National eHealth Authority dictated by the eHealth law of Cyprus ( N . 59 ( i )/ 2019 ). He is the National representative in the eHealth Network of the EC , and participates as the national expert in the discussions of the EHDS Regulation at the Council of the European Union .
