Programme Erasmus + Europe on the move : Migration Biographies Interviews
My name ’ s Piero and I live in Rutigliano , in the south-east of Italy . My dad is Italian and my mom is Russian . I decided to interview her to know how a migrant feels .
Me : Good morning mom ! Mom : Good morning . Me : I ’ m doing a project for my school , can I ask you some questions ? Mom : Sure . Me : My project is about migrants and how they live in a foreign state . Why did you decide to emigrate ?
Mom : I wanted to meet new people . Particularly I wanted a boyfriend and in Russia there are a lot of women and few men .
Me : Why did you choose Italy ?
Mom : I love nature , beauty and good food and Italy has got all these things . Italy ’ s got a big and ancient story too . Moreover Italian and Russian mentalities are similar .
Me : How old were you ? Mom : I was about 25 years old . Me : Did you suffer your choice ?
Mom : According to me , everyone who change State is nostalgic of his house , his relatives and his friends . Obviously I miss my parents and I ’ d see them more but I reach them every time I can .
Me : What did they think ?
Mom : I was quite big so I could decide what I wanted to do . They weren ’ t afraid to let me alone because they knew I ’ d stay with my aunt and cousin .
Me : Had you got relatives in Italy ?
Mom : Yes , in Italy there were my aunt and my cousin and the first weeks I stayed only with them .
Me : Who were your friends early and how did you meet them ?
Mom : I met my first friends going out with my relatives in Italy . I met your father so and a lot of people that I still hang out with .
Me : Did someone make you feel uncomfortable ?
Mom : No , nobody was rough or rude , on the contrary they all were kind and helpful . At least I can say that because I ’ m outgoing and smart .
