After leaving the prison , Youssuf was ready to do anything to leave that state so inhospitable . " The trip to Italy is very expensive ( 1200 Dinar , about 700 euros ) and it took me about two years to accumulate the money that , gradually , I gave to the smuggler ".
From Youssuf ' s account it emerges that the great difficulty is faced during the phase in which it is a pawn in the hands of bosses who exploit and contract in prison .
Collected the necessary money and little more for emergencies , Youssuf has set sail . " When I saw Italian police , I burst into tears and thanked Allah for bringing me alive ".
He stayed at sea for three days . When I asked him if the crossing was tough , he replied with a smile : " After all I ' ve been through , the crossing was a joke ".
My father came to italy in 1994 at the age of 20 and he got into a lorry with a friend that took him to a ferry boat and later to Trieste .
He stayed in the ferry boat for two days to arrive in Trieste . After he arrive in Trieste he caught the train and he arrived in Bari because my dad ’ s cousins lived there .
He stayed in Bari for a few days ; he arrived in Rutigliano because he want to look for a job .
He worked as a farmer for four years and he tried to go to Belgium for two months but he couldn ’ t find a job ; so he returned to Rutigliano to continue his job .
As soon as he arrived he lived in a little house with his friends . In 1999 my mother arrived and they decided to stay in Rutigliano because my mother also found a job .
But now they no longer yearn to return to Albania but every August we go on holiday and we are happy to go . In Albania we live in an apartment in Durazzo with my grandparents .
Now my father works in the country and my mother is a housewife .
