Through interview , observation and research I ’ m able to interpret and explain the point of view from a married couple .
Maricruz was born in Guatemala and therefore grew up with a conservative mentality , a strong sense of loyalty towards her family and a grateful and loving heart . David was born in Germany and had already travelled around the globe by the time he met Maricruz , the experiences that he gained during his youth turned him into a mature , patient and open-minded person . These characteristics made their marriage possible despite of their crashing cultures and opposite worlds .
But although they are still married , the road hasn ’ t been easy and their lives have been full of changes , which were not always easy to assimilate . David had to leave his family and adapt to a whole new culture ; he had to rebuild his life and see the family of his wife as his own . Maricruz had to do the same years later , but before she had to give up to her ideals and expectations and start to think of the world as something bigger and more complex .
What did both of them learn and how did this change them ? My goal is to respond that question and show Maricruz ´ s and David ’ s struggles and success through the way .
The seminar paper is intended to present a migration biography based on the example of the professional footballer Mesut Özil . Mesut Özil has been struggling with racism since his childhood . Racism and its question of origin were one of the reasons for his resignation from the German national football team in 2018 . The work will begin with the term migration , followed by the biography of Mesut Özil , in order to focus on a personality who immigrated to Germany .
In the further course of the work , reference is made to Mesut Özil ' s resignation from the national football team . The topic of migration and how Mesut deals with racism are to be learned through the information about his career by researching books .
Since migration is a widespread and often discussed topic in today ' s society , I want to convey to the readers that it does not only concern and restrict the everyday life of many people , but there are also famous personalities who despite their media presence have just as many difficult situations and life stages due to their origin .
Through the biography of Özil and his family , all migrated people are to be given courage and convey to them that they are not alone with their problems such as racism . A further objective of my work is not only to support the affected people , but also to raise awareness in dealing with their fellow human beings , this should be made clear by Mesut Özil ' s experiences in relation to racism , exclusion and discrimination .
