5.3 . Emotional Integration
Catholicism has a strong nationalist connotation in Croatia and the missions ’ aim is therefore to strengthen the national identity instead of working towards integration in the form of a German identity . 59 The clubs and associations promote a “ long distance nationalism ” and achieve the same effect with this . 60
5.4 . Cultural Integration
Migrant clubs often offer tutoring and German lessons as a form of integrational support , whereas in the mission Croatian is the chosen language and no courses can be taken . 61
5.5 . Subjective Integration
Both networks support the migrated individual by giving him the possibility to build own social networks , as they provide an ethnically homogenous place of solidarity and contact . While the mission concentrates on leisure activities and youth work , the clubs organize parties and cultural events . 62
5.6 . Conclusion
Pupils with a Croatian 63 migrant background score high in the German school system , as 75 % have graduated ( 12 % over the migrant average ) and , as generally known , education is the key to ascension . Therefore Yugoslav immigrants have created an integration process of upward mobility . 64 In summary , migrant networks communicate a home-focused and nationalist identity but help integrating the immigrants through specific integrational , representative and extra support in a well-functioning manner . 65
