Europe . Europe underestimated the number of arrivals with the consequence that they were overstrained . Growing hatred , racism and unwillingness to help , was shown by many countries through their treatment of the refugees . The biggest impact of the refugee crisis was had in a select few countries such as Germany and Sweden . The biography of the Syrian family Haddad suggests that it is not an easy decision for them to decide to flee . Having to fight for their life every day trying to survive and not giving up on their hope of arriving in Germany showed to me personally as an author how much bravery it took to go through this . After the family Haddad ’ s arrival in Munich the asylum application process started , ending with the acceptation of the mother and her children . As of writing the legal procedure for the father is still ongoing and deeply worries the family . Germany offers a lot to refugees , mainly freedoms , democracy and for many the most important thing : security . Germany is very attractive , offering the refugees a better future through better education , political stability and a stronger labour market . Family Haddad mentioned how happy they are here , finally having found a secure place that has become their new home . The family Haddad are far from the only refugees who have had gone through something similar . One newspaper article that consisted of an interview of another Syrian family 166 portrayed many similarities to the biography of family Haddad . They were coming as refugees with the refugee crisis around 2015 and now call Germany their new home .
