settings such as touring mode, sports mode, economy mode or turbo mode. In this case, a
bicyclist can change the degree of pedal assistance depending on mood and preference. More
so, riders can switch gear settings depending on headwinds, terrain or driving to work without
getting the heat out.

Just like every other electrical device, battery life on an e-bike varies based on model and
mode. Other factors include the battery itself, gear settings and the motor. Batteries and
motors are classified by watt. For instance, an electric bike with a 400 watt-hour battery and a
200-watt motor can last for about two hours in maximum power mode before the battery
drains completely. Typically, battery life on an e-bike ranges from 1 – 6 hours. Some bikes
come with removable battery packs while other can plug directly into outlets.
